Welcome 
Welcome to the private counselling practice of Al Zwiers, Registered Social Worker. I offer individual, couples and family counselling and consulting services in the greater Vancouver area of British Columbia, Canada. My practice is open for everyone, with a special focus upon substance use and addictions issues, healthy sexuality and relationships, and sexual orientation and gender identity.

Many of the people I work with are dealing with issues of:
  • identity, self-acceptance and self-worth
  • communication and relationships
  • substance use and compulsive behaviours
  • sexual health and exploration of sexuality
  • chronic illness and health concerns
  • body image and eating disorders
  • depression, anxiety and isolation
  • grief, loss and life transitions
My office is conveniently located in downtown Vancouver at 1118 Homer Street, at the corner of Helmcken in the restored Empress heritage building. I am also available for telephone counselling sessions for people who are not local or who may prefer that mode of service.
